stepped on the field and received that not so warm welcome. now, the mlb is suspending rodriguez without pay for the remaining 211 games through the 2014 season amid allegations about his use of performance-enhancing drugs. earlier today before suiting up for the game against the white sox, rodriguez and the yankees held a press conference tachl. a take a look at what the embattled third baseman had to say. >> i'm not saying anything about mlb or anything that's going on. i'm saying this is a process, this is america, you have the opportunity to defend yourself, and i think the process, like all americans, will have the opportunity to defend ourselves in a due process, and i think that's what we'll have today and i'll have my day. >> the 38-year-old also vowed to repeal and fight the suspension, and with a repeal, he remains eligible to play until a decision is reached. he did admit a year ago that he used performance-enhancing drugs from 2001 to 2003, but he has repeatedly denied using them since then. fox's own adam hounsley. adam, what do you got? >> it's been quite a circus for alex

mlb suspension comes down by then. nbc's ron mott has been tracking all of this in new york. do we expect the suspension to come down? i know his lawyers said they were going to fight anything. are they trying to work out a deal? >> that's the rumorumor, that they're trying to work out a deal. last night, some of the reports were that both sides have essentially walked away from one another because they're so far away from a deal. no one really knows. i think we need one of those msnbc clocks to show lounge this a-rod watch has gone on. i think i'm on day nine here. essentially, it boils down to this, whether he will accept a suspension that the league is going to push for, a pretty substantial suspension, or if he doesn't, they can't work out a deal, there are reports that the commissioner is ready to issue this lifetime ban, which will keep a-rod off the field indefinitely. he, of course, can appeal that. no one knows for sure. what we know for sure is he's scheduled to play tonight in trenton, new jersey, for the thunder, a aa team down there, a yankee organization. presumably,

masters, have a good day. [laughter] cheryl: well, the business, the business of baseball, mlb commissioner bud selig's call on just how hard baseball will come down on a-rod and others in the steroid scandal expected at any moment. no guidance at this point, but we are expecting something from bud selig. millions on the line for a-rod and these other players mixed up with the florida lab. this dates back to january. we've got foxbusiness.com senior correspondent dun son pyle and charles payne. charles, he is still owed at this point $8.5 million, charles, from the yankees, that's for the rest of his salary, another 28 million for the last four years of his contract. all of that is in jeopardy now, correct? >> well, it's all in jeopardy particularly if there's a lifetime ban. apparently, that's one of the things they've been trying to negotiate with him, if he would sent a deal, you know, whatever their deal is and not fight back, then he would still be able to resume his career after next season, if not, they'll try to come down harder. we're essentially talking about a gigant

a tough season. could mlb do something, lower ticket prices to acknowledge this mess and show fans how important they are and how appreciated they are? >> on a team by basis they certainly can the milwaukee brewers gave that to give $10 food and beverage credit who bought tickets to games for brought the price down dramatically, value of the ticket dramatically. that was a great move on the part of the brewers. i don't think we'll see a great deal of that. baseball's attendance is pretty close to what it was last year. this is not likely to reduce attendance. they have to get peds, performance-enhancing drugs out of baseball. lori: will it make baseball boring if you don't have sluggers and low-scoring game. >> i remember in the 1970's watching pitchers like tom seaver and bob gibson and just loving the games. lori: there you go. >> people come out, they come out for the competition. what they don't like and really dislike tremendously are some people trying to get an advantage by using performance-enhancing drugs, illegal drugs, to benefit themselves and that's a real problem. lori: t
